APICTM 2008 - Our Region in Focus
What a great success!
To all our sponsors, our speakers and our participants - on behalf of the Organising Committee of APICTM, we want to thank you all for your great contributions to a very memorable and rewarding conference.
The conference was a really successful meeting and the quality of the presentations and the level of interest in travel medicine was outstanding. We finished with 640 registrants from 36 different countries, greatly exceeding our initial expectations and demonstrating the growing importance of travel medicine as a discipline in its own right. It also meant that our sessions were strongly attended, and for some, “standing room only” showed their popularity. A special thanks is due to our registrants from far-flung parts of the globe, we appreciate your contributions after travelling so far.
The feedback from participants and speakers was very positive, and the formal evaluations indicated that all participants found the program stimulating and rewarding.
It was particularly pleasing to have the solid support of the International Society of Travel Medicine at the meeting, and the 4th ISTM Certificate of Knowledge Examination run on the opening day which added interest and value to the meeting generally. It was exciting to see the revival of interest in the Asia Pacific Travel Health Society and we hope this now can lead as the peak regional body for travel medicine.
Special thanks must also go to the fantastic team at our professional conference organiser, Waldron Smith Management, who made the whole event go so smoothly from planning to post-conference evaluation.
So we extend our warm thanks to all involved and look forward to continuing the development of travel medicine in our region.
